Out of the office: places you NEED to visit

Out of the office: places you NEED to visit

Finally it’s summertime..

I don’t know about you guys but summertime is what I long for all year. Don’t get me wrong I love the wintertime, love the fall, but the summer has a special spot in my heart. All the adventures, all of the places to visit. I can’t handle it. The season is not long enough for the long list of activities that I have planned all winter long.

The last thing anyone wants on hot sunny days is being stuck in the office, and the worst is not knowing what places to visit or what to do on your day off. The amount of hidden gems that are around us is amazing. Many people dislike Jersey, but there are perks to it. So I made you guys a list of places that I visited last summer so that you can also enjoy and visit them. Grab a friend, take the drive and hope you end up visiting these places…

Address138 Bushkill Falls Trail, Bushkill, PA 18324

This place is about an hour and a half from central Jersey, but once you get there it is stunning. I’m not exaggerating. It is an easy trail, plenty of families with their kids. You do have to pay about $15 for an entrance, but the views are phenomenal. There are about eight different waterfalls throughout the hike and each one beautiful in its own way. Added some pictures below!

This is more of a weekend getaway. You can just take that drive to DC and enjoy the weekend, there are so many different places and things to do in town. This botanical garden has pretty much every plant that you can think of. It definitely informs visitors about the importance, and often irreplaceable value of plants.

LocationClinton Township, New Jersey

Growing up my family and I would always visit the recreational area for Round Valley, but recently I had discovered that they offer camping. To get to the camping sites and the reservoir itself it is a longhike. If you do decide to go camping pack as light as you can, because the hike there is a trip. You’ll see what I am talking about. However once you arrive to the campsites you are placed right by the reservoir and you just take it all in. It is quiet, peaceful, and beautiful all in one. There are barely any people, barely any service, so its a great place to just disconnect from the world.

Location: Knowlton Township, Warren County, New Jersey

I’ve already written a whole post about this hike because it is probably the closest, yet most rewarding one of all. About an hour drive from Central Jersey, and the hike up is so challenging, it’s gonna make you question yourself. Once you get to the top, you can see the Delaware Water Gap, and you can also see Mount Minsi right across the river. Take the red dot trail up, and the blue trail back down. The red trail is on the difficult side but you get some views as you work your way up. The blue dot trail will bring you around the mountain, lots of rocks but once you get closer to the bottom there is also a small waterfall. Some people jump in, but the water is always freezing.

This is for all my wine lovers, there are plenty of winery’s around just do your research before you head out. This specific winery is a good price, and they offer plenty of different wines. Whether you like your wine super dry or you prefer sweet wine, they have it all. I guarantee that your gonna end up buying a bottle or two, maybe three (no one is judging you). With the right people it’s bound to be a good time.

Address: 2 South Beach Rd. Lake Hopatcong

Lakeview Marina has different option of water sports that you can try out. If you’re looking for something a little on the extreme side they have wake boarding, tube surfing, and wake surfing. If those sound a little to scary for you they also offer SUP rentals and kayak rentals for the whole day. You can also pack lunch and return to the dock to eat, you just have to make sure you set up an appointment for your rental.

A special thanks to my friends who I drag with me to all these places haha, love y’all.

Thanks for reading

With love, Estef
